The Tale of the Tales
train tales
just the other day i was in the train travelling from ang mo kio to singapore expo. can you imagine?? it was a 19 stations long journey, including city hall station.
the beginnig of the ride was rather uneventful. just the normal people following their daily routine; going out, going home, and even pretending not to see an old lady standing in front of them when they're seated comfortably on the train. as the train passed station after station, the journey became incredibly exciting. people, weird ones, those that catches your eye, came on board. [just a gentle reminder, this is NOT the polar express]. perhaps i'm being mean to say that they're weird cos actually they're not a single bit. it's just that sometimes for that split second you find that they're not what you normally expect to see. to begin with, there was this young man, guess he was in his mid twenties, carrying a female handbag!! in was a sweet pastel pink one, with short brown handles, the size of an average handbag. there was a nalgene water bottle in it and what's more, he carried it on his shoulders like most women do! it couldnt be that he was carrying it for his girlfriend/wife/mother/sister cos he alighted alone, and besides, a normal man would not carry a a handbag in such a way. maybe he thinks it's funky and wants to be different. i wonder why.
then this bunch of people from xxxx school boarded. they're from ncc[air], both girls and guys. nothing much to say about them actually, but just that they were a bit too noisy and i cant stand their high pitched giggles. oh yucks.
the next guy who boarded the train caught everyone's attention. if you think that i, standing at 168cm, am tall, you're wrong. this guy who boarded the train had to bend down to enter the train, just like a giraffe bending down to reach for water in a river. i'm exaggerating here, but it's just to give you a clearer picture. by the way, the guy's an afro-american, and wore a basketball jersey like an nba player. imagine his height..
after an hour we finally reached sinpore expo. the time is 1030pm.
perhaps the other passengers must think that we're weird.
the tale of the great battle
that night we stayed at the SAF Yacht Club suite for the night. it was quite a nice night, and mum, rim and i watched the musical singing in the rain on dvd, while dad went out to talk to his friends. he came back to the room and everybody fell asleep soon after that, all except me. there was nothing to do but to just lie in bed and stare at the ceiling. so at about 1 am i decided to go out to the balcony, which faces the sea to read newspaper. i thought that it would be nice cos i'd be all alone, doing what i love to do. but instead, it became a battle between mozzy's army and me. [they're mosquitoes, if you didnt know that]. i started out strongly, killing many of my opponents with me quick reflexes. mozzy and many of his friends died under my hands. literally under my hands. my deepest sympathy and condolences. it was a good fight and i thought i had won the battle, but the opponent was just too strong and determined. they refused to give up sent reinforcements to the battlefield. they used various tactics and attacked me from many different areas. i was the only one in my army, the blue guards. finally, i realised that i was fighting a loosing battle. there was absolutely no way i could kill them all. there were too many of them and only one of me. so i decided to surrender.
the tale of the mysterious shoes
so i went back to the room and layed on the bed till i fell asleep. and i dreamt. it was quite a silly dream, but quite scary to me when i was in the dream. here's it:
my school had this adventure camp at this campsite. after checking into our dorms, we were to line up outside our dorms to wait for further instructions. then out of nowhere, a pair of shoes came walking past us. everyone else just stared at the pair of shoes as it walked past us, except me. i screamed!! i didnt know why, but i just screamed. no one else said a word. then the instructor pulled me aside and told me that we're not supposed to scream when we see such things at the campsite as it's not a rare occurance. the shoes actually belong to a spirit who lives at the campsite. he also said that the spirit would come and haunt me, and in order for this not to happen, i cannot touch myself for three days. isn't it weird? it simply means that my hands cannot be in contact with my own body. heh. furthermore, i had to wear this purple cloak and a hood with pictures of skulls all over it. gosh! then, in my dream, i remembered that i had god on my side. then i told him that if my god can overcome evil spirits, why cant he overcome such things? so i removed the cloak and threw it on the gound. this left the instructor speechless.
then i woke up and it was 1130 in the morning..
yups. this is all i've got for the tale of the tales. stay tuned!

'for the safety of all passengers, please stand behind the yellow line'
it was about 930pm when i boarded the train and about 1030pm when i alighted from it. during this period of time, you'll never know what you'll see..
