i was just to tired to blog yesterday. cos you see, my new maid left yesterday, just three and half days after she came here. which means that we're now left maidless. in the morning, out of a sudden, she told my mum that she wanted to call the agency to ask for a change in employer. atfter a while, the indonesian agency suddenly called and talked and counciled to her. it must have cost them a bomb for this ten minute overseas call. anyway, she just kept crying and insisted that she really wanted to balek agency. to cut the long story short, we finally brought her back to the agency and that was the end. it was only at the agency did we realise that she told the singapore and indonesian agency different stories. she said to one of them that my dog licked her, and said to another that my house was too big, or something to that effect. but it didnt matter anymore. she wasnt coming back. please note that we didnt abuse or bully her, nor did we force her to eat pork. we always cook pork as the last dish so that the rest wont be 'contaminated'.
if there were something i really pitied, it would be the foreign domestic helpers. i am deeply saddened seeing the way they treat the maids at the agency. not that they abuse her whatsoever, but they do not treat maids the way they are supposed to be treated. they made 'problem case' maids like mine, stand in the corner of the office. and even on the day they meet their to-be-employers, the agency wouldnt give them any food to eat, assuming that they can eat at their employer's house. what is this? i'm sure that the agency people wouldnt want to be treated this way either. sometimes, maids even own up things that they didnt even do so as not to be accused of lying, if they stand up for what they think is right. this is so damn unfair to them. not because they are maids so everything they do is wrong. many singaporeans also have this misconception that since most domestic helpers are from third world or developing countries, they are considered to be in the 'lower class'. they dont deserve to eat the good food that we eat, and should only eat foods that are cheaper, or lower in quality. this is discrimination. shouldnt we treat others the way we want to be treated? since God made as all in his image, we should all be treated equally. sigh. domestic helpers are such poor things.
alright. enough said about maids. my right arm's aching, due to ironing. since yesterday, i've been ironing all the clothes because as i said earlier, i have no maid. as i'm not a right hander, my right hand is very much weaker as compared to my left hand. and since the plug is on the right side of the ironing board, i'm force to iron with my right hand, for the the cord wouldnt be long enough and would get tangled up if i used my left. so this is terribly strenuous task for me. ironing for half an hour is equivalent to playing the guitar for about one hour straight. at least it would help me strenghten my muscles in my right hand without gyming.
we're currently considering not to have a maid. think about all the money saved. we could go on a holiday to say, africa? or kenya or nepal or china etc. i always like to go to countries where the currency is weaker to that of singapore's, so that it would be our gain. furthermore, there wouldnt be a point going to developed countries like the united states or europe, as what we see would be relatively similar to singapore. also since the american dollar and the euro are much stronger than singapore's, we would end up spending lots and lots of money. for example, 50 over bucks just for a taxi ride. isnt this just too much? we would also end up staying in those lousy 2-3 star hotels which are not worth the price we're paying for. whereas in countries in china, taxi rides only cost us just a few cents or dollars, and the rest of the money can be spent shopping, or trying some of their local delicacies. also, we can also afford to stay in higher class hotels, which would make our stay there a more comfortable one.
okay. i shall end here. it's time for designer guys!
