this afternoon i took an mrt to cityhall to meet jiaying and together, we went to art friend at bras basah complex. standing in an mrt alone for 20 minutes plus is a very terribly extremely boring thing to do. thus, instead of staring out of the window [from yiochukang to bishan] and then at the floor [from bishan to city hall], i thought of 10 interesting/fun/exciting things to do in a train. here goes:
1] stand beside a person reading a newspaper and try to share the newspaper with him or her. when he flips the page when you've not finished reading, produce a 'tsk' sound, which is a sign of irritation, and show a very annoyed face. this makes him feel at fault.
2] stand in front of a sitting man who's balding [preferably in his 50s], and try to analyse his male hair loss pattern. if you dare, point to one of the beijing 101 /glower/yun nam hair care's advertistment and suggest that maybe he should go there for treatment. be sure that to be in the know about such things, in case he enquires.
3] stand in the middle of the carriage without holding on to the poles. try to balance. for best effect, close your eyes while doing this. in case you fall, grab the person beside you and say 'sorry! i fell asleep and dreamt that i fell off a building'.
4] grab on to a poll very tightly and when the train moves, say that you're scared cos the train's moving too fast.
*5] try to do pull ups on the bars.
*6] try to do gymnastics on the handles. look for some space and do jumping jacks. then, loudly exclaim ' the world's first movable gym'.
7] stare out the window and look as though you're enjoying the scenery. and just keep staring even when the train is in a tunnel. smile to yourself.
*8] stand at the entrance and not move when people are alighting or boarding. turn your head robotically from side to side and look confused.
9] tap our feet and your hands, and nod you head rhythmically as though you're listening to imaginary music.
10] stand beside someone who is typing an sms, and try to read what he's typing. correct any grammatical or spelling errors. when he receives an sms, try reading it as well.
* do those with an asterisk at your own risk. they might result in the station inspector chasing you out.
